Under a mandate, the fiduciary firm can prepare tax returns, gather and check the necessary information, take into account income, assets, expenses and applicable deductions, and follow up on proceedings with the tax authorities. For a company, it relies in particular on the annual financial statements to establish the tax items relating to profit and capital. It can also assist the taxpayer or the company with requests for information, corrections or specific tax procedures. ## Setting up, changing and converting a business Starting a business is not just about choosing a name. You need to choose a suitable legal form (sole proprietorship, Sàrl, SA or another structure), taking into account liability, capital, taxation and social insurance in particular. The fiduciary firm helps prepare and coordinate the formalities: the Commercial Register when registration is required, social insurance enrolment, VAT and, for some companies, coordination with the notary. It also steps in when a company evolves: a change of registered office, company name, purpose, partners or structure, a capital increase, a conversion or a restructuring, in coordination with the competent professionals and authorities where required by law. ## Accounting, payroll and VAT The fiduciary firm can take care of bookkeeping, the handling of accounting records, closing the accounts and preparing the annual financial statements in line with the obligations applicable to the company's legal form and size. When there are employees, it can manage payroll, salary certificates and social insurance returns. It also monitors the VAT situation: checking whether the company is liable, registering it if necessary, preparing VAT returns and handling periodic obligations with the Federal Tax Administration. ## Business domiciliation Where the conditions are met, a company can establish its registered office at the address of a fiduciary firm offering a domiciliation service.
